The $5,000 scholarship award is presented to students who show exemplary leadership in their education and in volunteer and community service.

“This award means a great deal to me because it represents years of sacrifice, dedication, hard work and the incredible mentorship I received at UT Health San Antonio,” Justin Garcia, MSRC, RRT, said. “The school shaped me into the clinician I am today, and being recognized in this way reminds me that I was on the right path all along.”

“This recognition motivates me even more and reinforces my commitment to continue growing, serving and giving back to our profession.

Garcia works in the pediatric intensive care unit at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in Baltimore, Maryland.
