OT faculty recognized by Texas Occupational Therapy Association
Four faculty members from the Department of Occupational Therapy at the UT Health Science Center San Antonio were recognized for their dedication to teaching, clinical practice, patient advocacy and community service by the Texas Occupation Therapy Association (TOTA). Faculty members received their awards during the TOTA Mountain Central Conference on November 6-8, 2015 in Richardson, Texas.
2015 Academic Educator of the Year: Ricky Joseph, Ph.D., OTR
This award is given to recognize a faculty member in an occupational therapy program who has made outstanding contributions to academic education and exhibits innovative teaching skills, serves as a role model and has made substantial contributions to the profession through research and service.
2015 Clinical Excellence Award of the Year: Autumn Clegg, OTR, CBIS
This award is given to an occupational therapy practitioner who has significantly contributed to the patient care and shown excellence in patient care.
2015 Interdisciplinary Team Award: Karin Barnes, Ph.D., OTR, Autumn Clegg, OTR, CBIS, Bridgett Piernik-Yoder, Ph.D., OTR
This awards recognizes a team who has made significant contributions to community projects that help improve the quality of life of persons served by occupational therapy. The team has also made contributions to patient advocacy activities and joint research efforts.
TOTA is a non-profit professional association incorporated in Texas. TOTA is an affiliate of the American Occupational Therapy Association, Inc. The Texas Occupational Therapy Association was established for the benefit of professionals and students of occupational therapy. Membership services includes public relations materials, legislative information, practice forum, educational meetings and student services.
