Interprofessional Open House in April will be the first of its kind
Prospective students interesting in learning more about admission to the School of Health Professions will also have an opportunity this spring to hear from three of the school’s programs at the School’s first Interprofessional Open House. The event is set for April 8 at 10 a.m. on the Long campus.
In the past, open houses have been program-specific, noted Richard Wettstein, associate professor and director of admissions for Respiratory Care. During the Respiratory Care breakout session, attendees will be engaged in hands-on activities, including intubating mannequins and listening to breathing sounds.
“You don’t realize how musical breathing can be,” he said.
Tony Skaggs, assistant professor, admissions coordinator and associate program director of the Physician Assistant Studies program, will share program details and prerequisites, as well as tips on how to craft a successful application and a discussion of the interview process. A student panel will also be on hand, he said.
The Medical Laboratory Sciences program will offer a student panel and a tour of student laboratories, Associate Professor Cheryl Burns said.
