Department of Physical Therapy faculty seek collaborators in rehabilitation research

The faculty in the Department of Physical Therapy is seeking to collaborate with other researchers in various areas of rehabilitation research.

PT faculty members have excellent training and experience in diverse fields including cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, clinical electrophysiology, geriatrics, neurologic rehabilitation, motor control/motor learning and orthopedics, said Department Chair and Associate Professor Greg Ernst, PT, PhD, ECS.

“We have great facilities with state-of-the-art research and clinical equipment,” he said. “We hope to collaborate with others within and outside the university to advance rehabilitation research in a variety of areas.”

The department created videos to highlight the faculty’s research interests, current projects, and the kinds of collaborations they are pursuing. The series includes a video overview of the department’s rehabilitation research focus and 10 short videos with faculty sharing their specific research programs, including:

•    ICU Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy of Critically-Ill Patients, with Assistant Professor Bobby Belarmino, PT, DPT, Ph.D., CCS
•    Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation: Clinical Electrophysiology, with Department Chair Greg Ernst, PT, Ph.D., ECS
•    Interprofessional Education Outcomes and Predictors of Student Success, with Associate Professor Michael Geelhoed, PT, DPT, OCS, MTC
