Anibal Diogenes, DDS, PhD, honored with dual awards for excellence in endodontics

The UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry is proud to share that Anibal R. Diogenes, DDS, PhD, MS, professor and chair of the Department of Endodontics and director of the American Board of Endodontics, has been honored with two prestigious awards recognizing his impactful contributions to the field of endodontics.
The French Society of Endodontics (FSE) selected Diogenes as the recipient of the 2025 Louis I. Grossman International Award. This annual award honors a distinguished figure in endodontics whose work has significantly advanced the profession. The FSE board voted unanimously to recognize Diogenes for his dedication, innovation and impact on the specialty. The award was presented to him during the French Party at the American Association of Endodontists (AAE) Annual Meeting in Boston on April 3, by Alexis Gaudin, the President of the French Society of Endodontics.
"It is incredibly humbling to receive this prestigious international award—an honor given to some of the greatest leaders in Endodontics in the past. To be acknowledged for my contributions in scholarship, teaching, and clinical advancement is truly special, as these represent the core pillars of my professional life," shared Diogenes.
In addition to the Louis I. Grossman Award, Diogenes also received the Journal of Endodontics' Paper of the Year Award in the "Case Reports and Clinical Technique" category. This recognition, also presented at AAE Annual Meeting, highlights his continued commitment to clinical excellence and scholarly contributions that help shape best practices in patient care.
As a leader at the School of Dentistry, Diogenes plays a critical role in training the next generation of endodontists. His leadership extends nationally and internationally through his service as Director of the American Board of Endodontics and as a member of the AAE's Editorial Board Committee. His mentorship and guidance have influenced countless students, residents, and professionals in the field.
The School of Dentistry celebrates Diogenes for both of these well-earned honors and congratulates him on his continued commitment to excellence in education, research and clinical care.
